How to Stay Warm This Winter Without Going Bankrupt

Ami Ciccone Nov 18, 2020

Winters are beautiful, but they can be harsh. The constant near-freezing temperature can sure be a bane, and to outsmart it, you need to spend hundreds of dollars to make your living space cozy. This has been an age-old dilemma.

People love winters, but the season falls heavily on the pocket. The snowfall is mesmerizing, but the wood for keeping the fireplace burning is expensive. Or, the heater makes the electricity bill skyrocket.

Below are a few tips that can help you keep warm this winter without having to spend your entire year’s savings.

  1. Drop the electric blanket for the old school hot water bags

The bed firm Silentnight revealed that the sales of the electric blanket have shot up by 400%. They might be very effective in keeping you toasty and give you a nice average for keeping yourself warm over your whole life, but don’t worry if you do not have the immediate funds to invest in one. Take a few hot water bags with you to bed. Not only will they keep you warm, but they will also make your bed nice and toasty for you to quickly drift off to sleep.

  1. Invest in a good pair of woolen socks

You might already be privy to the fact that once your feet warm-up, your whole body will soon warm up too. Sleeping in several jackets and under a lot of comforters can be very uncomfortable. Invest in a good pair of woolen sleeping socks to keep yourself warm at night.

  1. Invest in a thick winter tog

Make smart purchases that will last you a lifetime. You might have a light summer comforter but, the next time you shop, do not buy another summer comforter to double up your nighttime cover.

Instead, for once, buy a thick winter tog. It will do away with at least three of the summer comforters in terms of keeping you warm. At the end of the winter spell, get your winter tog dry cleaned and store it in the attic for the next cold spell.

Now huddle up in the bed with your economical purchases, and warm up your hands on a mug of hot coffee before sipping it away. It is the beginning of a long and cozy night, and who knows? You might wake up to snowfall.
