Sarah Jessica Parker Voices Support for West Village Resto’s Highly-Debated Expansion

Ami Ciccone Dec 02, 2019

Sarah Jessica Parker is best remembered for her iconic role as Carrie Bradshaw in a hit New York City-set television series.

The 54-year-old actress has long retired her heels as the drama-loving, fashionable writer Carrie, but it seems that Parker remains involved in her beloved city’s affairs, more specifically that of her home neighborhood, West Village.

Appearance at Community Board Meeting

Fedora is a trendy restaurant in the West Village area which specializes in a variety of cuisines. Parker has often been spotted dining in the resto with other entertainment industry personalities.

Sporting pink heeled booties reminiscent of her tv character, the actress was spotted attending a West Village Community Board 2 liquor licensing meeting.

According to Patch Media, Parker was only in attendance at the meeting to voice out her support for Fedora restaurant’s proposal to the community board for a garden expansion project.

The A-lister personally came to the microphone to say some kind words about her friend and Fedora’s owner, Gabe Stulman.

Sources say that Parker began her short speech with a short background about her and her husband, Matthew Broderick’s history with the West Village neighborhood. Having lived there for 28 years, the actress feels like she can confidently say that the restaurant has done nothing but serve good food to New Yorkers.

What more, she said that she went there not just to support a friend but also to be a “good neighbor” and listen to everyone’s concerns.

Fedora’s Proposal

The restaurant initially opened in 1917 but has since been recreated into its current classy theme. It has attracted quite the famous crowd over the years including the Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle.

Stulman’s proposal is primarily concerned with developing its backyard area into a garden where patrons can dine. This includes extending their liquor license outside the restaurant premises.

Unfortunately, plenty of community members expressed their opposition to the idea. The neighbors’ primary concern is the noise that the diners would cause in the residential area.

Fedora operates out of the basement of one of the brownstone townhouses in the area and serves from 5:30 pm to 11 pm.

One prominent dissenter is Marc Levy, a French writer whose debut book was turned into the Hollywood film, Just like Heaven.

Parker’s Neighborhood Woes

An inside look at the celebrity couple’s New York home which allegedly cost them a whopping $34.5 million.

But it seems like Parker’s opinion won’t weigh much on the community board’s decision. Apparently, she has still to settle a neighborhood dispute she and Broderick faced recently.

The backlash came after the couple started their megamansion project. The couple is currently getting their two West Village townhouses redone for some interior work reportedly supervised by architect Morris Adjini.

Put together the joined townhouses will have around 14,000 square feet of space with a private garden in the back. Parker and Broderick moved into the posh townhouse after selling their old one located just a few streets away.
