Brigitte Bardot – Paris, 88
French filmmaker Roger Vadim discovered Brigitte Bardot when she was just 14 years old. She went on to become an emblem of the liberated femininity and sensuality of the 1960s. At the tender age of 15, she graced the cover of Elle, France’s premier women’s magazine.
She played a significant role in popularizing French cinema, the bikini, the concept of free love, and the allure of St. Tropez. After stepping out of acting in the early 1970s, she dedicated herself to animal rights. She founded and chairs The Brigitte Bardot Foundation, which is committed to the welfare and protection of animals.
