In 2004, Sierra Leone was desperately trying to recover from the civil war that had been going on for eleven years. The country’s infrastructure was in chaos, and a lot of people had battle scars.

Many people lost their lives while others had their lives turned upside down. The civil war had left no room for improvement or development in society. It was all about survival, and Sarah’s visit must have been a lucky break as had it been a few years earlier, the meeting would have been impossible. Maybe that’s why the people were excited to see their long-lost princess.
