Just A Tiny Souvenir

Another strange souvenir, and a pretty large one at that too. This is a Moai, famous for being dotted all over the Easter Islands in eastern Polynesia. They are believed to be the facial likeness of ancestors who have been deified to watch over the people, guide them, and protect them.

But the one in the picture is by no means a lifesize version. The actual Moai statues could be built as tall as 33-feet, and weigh as much as 80-tons. As a matter of fact, those were the measurements for the tallest one ever erected. There were nearly 1000 created, and some have been transported around the world.
