Remembering The Babes
While it’s easy to see the funny side of this image, an airplane slipping on the ice led to one of the biggest soccer tragedies in history. This is what happened when the famous 1958 Manchester United squad, dubbed the Busby Babes, met an unexpected fate when their plane crashed.
20 of the 44 people on board died, including eight United players. The day is commemorated on 6 February every season. This airplane seemed to meet a similar fate, but the damage doesn’t’ seem extensive, and the plane held together. It appears that there were no casualties either.
