To The Rescue
Although the concertgoers weren’t initially very happy about Army helicopters’ presence on sight, the entire festival would not have been possible without them. According to Air Space Magazine, the organizers eventually made a helipad behind the stage even though it wasn’t part of their original plans.
With the roads being jammed with cars for miles, the additional resources needed to feed festivalgoers wouldn’t have been able to arrive in time otherwise. The helicopters even dropped flowers at the crowds beneath them. No wonder how the hippies got the flower child nickname!
