Over 30 Artists, with Jimi Hendrix Headlining
We’ve already mentioned that there were 30 artists, give or take, lined up to perform. Of course, it all wouldn’t have been possible without them. Woodstock’s three-day program included names like Canned Heat, Janis Joplin, The Who, and Joe Cocker, among many others. In total, 32 groups and artists performed that weekend.
The closing performance that Sunday was by Jimi Hendrix, along with Gypsy Sun and Rainbows. That was when Jimi infamously played the American Anthem on his guitar, with his unique style. Of course, he also received a generous payment of $18K. Needless to say, that when adjusted for inflation, that amount equals approximately $127K.
