Swami Saraswati’s Opening Speech
Part of the reason why Woodstock was forever carved in history was its message of love and peace. Giving birth to the hippie movement was no joke. This picture is of a special attendee of the festival, Swami Satchidananda Saraswati. He was adept at yoga and a religious teacher, who had the honor of giving an opening speech that Friday.
In it, he spoke of universal love, finding and achieving peace, inner exploration, and spirituality. Swami was traveling the world, preaching his ways, and eventually settled in America. He may have died at the age of 87 in 2002, but his words never lost their meaning.
