Even Janis Was There

By 1969, Janis Joplin had started pursuing her solo career. In Woodstock, however, she performed with her band Big Brother and The Holding Company. Unfortunately for them, the delays were many, and they only wound up performing by the early hours of Sunday. Judging from this picture, though, Joplin seems to be having fun.

Her performance, as expected, was incredible, even though her throat was a bit sore. That was no problem for her, as one of the reasons she stood out was for her passionate and raspy voice. It was one of her last performances, as, by the following year’s October, she had passed away.
