Imagine attending a music festival so epic that people worldwide would still be talking about it half a century later. That was Woodstock, and its purpose was to promote good music, peace, rock ‘n’ roll, and love. It started as a funding event, hoping to raise money for a recording studio in New York.

The event was created by Joel Rosenman, Artie Kornfield, John Roberts, and Michael Lang. Surprisingly, they were only expecting a maximum of 200,000 people to show up, but the reality was far more. It took place between the 15th and 18th of August 1969. Never before, or since, has a three-day festival of such importance occurred.

From whatever was going on at the 600-acre farm in Bethel, which was chosen to host the event, to eight miles down the road leading to it—people were dancing, jamming, and having fun. All this added up to what is now known as one of the most important cultural festivals and celebrations ever to happen.
