William Roache – Coronation Street – Age 88

You don’t often hear of actors qualifying for Guinness World Records. Count William Roache as an exception. In 2020, he received the honor of being the world’s longest-serving TV soap star. Roache has been starring in Coronation Street, which holds the record longest-running TV soap opera in the world, since its first episode in 1960.

His time on the cobbles was always smooth sailing, though. In the ‘90s, he won a libel suit against The Sun after the paper claimed that he was boring and disliked by his co-stars. Turning down a lawsuit settlement, he was also awarded $68,500 in damages.
