Betty Weider, 85, Born in 1935 – Fitness Mogul and ‘50s Pin-up Girl
We bet Betty Weider understands people’s current obsession with tiny waists, having had a famously small one herself during her days as a pin-up girl and model in the ‘50s. Her interest goes beyond just aesthetics, though, as she helped in pioneering women’s fitness with her late husband Joe Weider in the ‘80s.
The couple is credited for the publishing of magazines like Shape, for which Betty also wrote, and Men’s Fitness. Their empire-building story is chronicled in the 2018 film, Bigger, which starred Julianne Hough as a young Betty.
