Pat Boone, 86, Born In 1934 – This Land Is Mine
Pat Boone, now 86, became a pop sensation in America for covering hit singles by black Rock ’n Roll artists like Ain’t That a Shame by Fats Domino, Tutti Frutti by Little Richard, and I Almost Lost My Mind by Ivory Joe Hunter. He also wrote the lyrics for This Land Is Mine, the title he gave for the instrumental theme song of the film Exodus.
Just behind Elvis Presley, Billboard declared Boone as the second-highest charting artist of the late ’50s. In the decade that followed, he focused on gospel music and eventually became a motivational speaker and a conservative political pundit.
