Coronation Street made Eileen Derbyshire one of the most recognized actors in British soap operas. She played Emily Bishop for 55 years, becoming a Member Of the Order Of The British Empire (MBE) for her stellar performance in the drama.
Derbyshire started her career at age 17 in radio plays. Despite her fame, the actress chose to live privately and avoid the limelight. There were only two instances where she appeared for interviews, one is for a tribute for Margot Bryant, and the other is for an interview for deaf viewers. We’re sure fans wouldn’t mind seeing this retired artist once again on their TV screens.
