Bill Russell, 87 , Born In 1934 – Boston Celtics Legend
While the general consensus is that Michael Jordan is the greatest NBA player ever, Boston Celtics legend Bill Russel pushes him pretty close. Russel holds the record for the most NBA Championships with 11 to his name and is also a five-time NBA MVP, among other things.
He was also selected for the all-star team 12 times, but his legend goes beyond his statistical achievements. Experts appreciate the aesthetic of his game and still study his moves and teach them to young players. Plus, he also captained the gold medal-winning USA Basketball team at the 1956 Olympics. Despite building a career in Boston, he wasn’t very fond of the city.
