Julie Andrews, 84, Born In 1935 – Mary Poppins
Julie Andrews’s childhood was filled with memories of her performing on stage with her parents. As a result, she could’ve had a successful music career, but her field of work took a significant turn after playing the titular role on Disney’s Mary Poppins in 1964.
It was Andrew’s debut film role, and it was perhaps her most famous one, as playing Mary Poppins earned her a plethora of awards, including an Oscar, Golden Globe, and a Grammy. Needless to say, the rest was history. At her current age of 84, Andrews mostly concentrates on voice work, with Bridgerton, and Minions: The Rise of Gru coming up.
Gene Hackman, 90, Born In 1930, The French Connection
It’s been over a decade since Gene Hackman filmed his last movie, Welcome to Mooseport, in 2004, and he doesn’t seem to have plans of coming out of retirement any time soon. Starring in often multiple projects a year since his television debut in 1961, the two-time Academy Award winner deserves to enjoy his later years away from the spotlight with his wife, Betsy Arakawa.
Although he’s never made a formal announcement about his departure, Hackman shared a glimpse of his private life with Empire magazine in 2009. Apparently, ‘The Royal Tenenbaums’ actor is spending his days fishing and painting after a doctor advised him to take it easy for the sake of his heart.
