Darryl Hickman, 89, Born In 1931 – The Grapes of Wrath
You may recognize the Hickman name because of Dwayne Hickman. But his brother Darryl also has a pretty good profile in the acting scene. He started as a child actor and, at one point, had so many roles that he would work on multiple ones simultaneously.
His most notable role was in 1939’s The Grapes Of Wrath, which was a critical success, with the director, John Ford winning to Oscar for Best Director. Hickman later became critical of child acting, saying he had no real childhood. He also worked as a film executive and published a book on acting called The Unconscious Actor: Out of Control, In Full Command.
