Originally Sophia Scicolone, the Sophia Loren we know well, was born in the ‘50s at the producer’s suggestion. The advice proved wise as she scored her breakout role with Vittorio De Sica’s The Gold of Naples. Come the ‘60s, Loren stood among international cinema’s most sought after leading ladies.
