The Calf Fell into a Trap
Elephants are known for having a strong family bond, but a few years after a calf is born in captivity, it’s sometimes left to survive by itself in the cage. Though their mothers heavily protect them, the young ones can still get into trouble or fall into traps.
So, it often takes some human intervention to save the calf. Usually, when an elephant feels threatened, it spreads its ears and makes a specific sound that alerts the rescue workers to intervene.
