It might be criminal to laugh at this picture because that is one nasty fall. This rider’s horse certainly wasn’t having a good day, and it seems like his owner was misreading his cues. No matter how well-groomed they are, horses can still be quite unpredictable due to external or unforeseen circumstances.

Pictures like this are why equestrians are encouraged to get injury insurance. You don’t need to be told the amount of damage one can sustain from being flung five feet into the air and landing on the ground. Thankfully, this man grabbed tightly onto the saddle, and that would have lessened the impact of his fall.
