The feud also reportedly escalated once Somerhalder directed some episodes and began dating Twilight actress, Nikki Reed, soon after their breakup. However, Dobrev denounced the malicious rumors and said that she exited the show per the contract. As of 2021, Somerhalder is happily married to Reed.
