Back in the day, getting married at a young age was the social norm. Therefore, no one batted an eye when Jimmy Carter married Rosalynn Carter when she was barely 19 years old. In July 2021, the Carters will celebrate 75 years of marriage, which isn’t something you’d hear very often these days.
It was Rosalynn who developed feelings first while Carter was in the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis. They not only raised four children but are fortunate enough to be alive to see over a dozen great-grandchildren. Plus, how can we forget their time as the President and First Lady of the United States between 1977 and 1981?
Barack Obama & Michelle Obama – Married For 29 Years
Barack and Michelle Obama are a literal power couple who were extremely popular with the public during Obama’s two terms as the 44th President of the United States between 2009 and 2017. A humble couple, Obama and Michelle first met when the two were employed at the law firm Sidley Austin in 1989.
Soon they started dating and were married by October 1992. One never knows where life will take them, for these two would never have imagined calling the White House home when they first met. Today, they are the parents of Malia and Sasha Obama and resides in an $8.1 million mansion in Kalorama, Washington, D.C.
Elizabeth Warren & Bruce H. Mann – Married For 41 Years
Most of you may know Elizabeth Warren as the United States Senator from Massachusetts, who has been in office since 2013. Before embarking on her career as a politician, the 71-year-old worked as a bankruptcy law professor. Her name, Warren, comes from her first husband, Jim Warren, to whom she was married for a decade.
Even though her first marriage didn’t work out, it gave her the two children she has today. By 1980, Warren had found love again and married Bruce H. Mann, a law professor. It’s safe to say that the two are soulmates as they are on the verge of celebrating their 41st wedding anniversary.
Ben Carson & Candy Carson – Married For 46 Years
Until his retirement in 2013, Ben Carson served as a neurosurgeon although, he wasn’t just another doctor. Instead, he was profoundly known for his expertise in separating conjoined twins. His recent work, however, involves politics. If you didn’t know, Carson was the 17th United States Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, having served during Donald Trump’s reign.
Carson, now 69, has been happily married to author and businesswoman, Lacena “Candy” Rustin for 46 years. They were college sweethearts, having met at Yale University in 1971. It’s a wonderful journey they’ve come with three children and even grandchildren today. In 2020, Carson was diagnosed with COVID-19 but has since recovered.
