Martin Luther King Jr., Standing on the Same Balcony Where He was Shot
Martin Luther King Jr. is a name just about everyone has heard, heralded for his efforts as a prominent leader in the ‘50s/’60s civil rights movement. A church leader, he advocated for the abolition of racial discrimination and segregation, through acts of civil disobedience and nonviolent activism.
In April 1968, while standing on a second-floor balcony at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, an assassin shot and killed him. This is an image of King standing at the very same spot, just a day before his assassination.
