Concorde Jet Crashes Killing 109
An Air France Concorde jet crashed in July 2000, killing everyone onboard. The fastest commercial jet had an exemplary safety record with zero crashes up to that point in its 31 years history.
The Flight left New York and plunged near a hotel almost immediately after takeoff. Investigations revealed that another airplane that had taken off before the Concorde dropped a piece of metal. When the jet ran over it, it shredded its tire, throwing it into one of the fuel tanks and engine, causing a disabling fire.
