Skye Terrier
Who would have thought that this elegant-looking breed was bred as working creatures? Back in the day, the Skye Terriers were trained to protect farms from badgers and wolves. Their long, luscious coat made them look threatening at the time and also allowed them to avoid bites.
Unfortunately, future pet owners must also consider regular grooming as a factor in choosing this dog. They were extremely popular during the Victorian era, thanks to painter Edwin Landseer who loves creating portraits of the Skye Terrier. Unfortunately, this has become a rare breed because only 42 of them were registered in the UK Kennel Club in 2012.
