Rhodesian Ridgeback
One of the most striking characteristics of a Rhodesian Ridgeback is the streak of reverse-growing hair on its back. This South African canine was initially used to chase lions in the savannah; hence its moniker, African Lion Hound. They only come in different shades of wheaten but they don’t constantly bark.
Rhodesian Ridgebacks make for a great family protector because they are intelligent and strong-willed. The thing is, they aren’t for everybody because they need solid training to avoid future problems. On top of this, the American Kennel Club said the breed requires an active lifestyle because they love to run.
