Dalmatian
Many readers are probably familiar with this dog breed, thanks to Disney’s animated movie “101 Dalmatians.” However, their origin remains unknown to this day, perhaps because they traveled a lot with the nomadic Romani. They were originally bred for coaching, the process by which the dogs run at the same pace as stagecoach to clear the pathway.
Dalmatians are also said to be firehouse dogs because they used to guide fire coaches, which is why some firehouses have them as mascots even to this day. Interestingly, puppies of this breed are born white and literally earn their spots as they grow old.
