German Shepherd
From the name itself, this breed was developed in Germany by a certain Max von Stephanitz, who introduced the dog to police service. They became popular with the Americans during World War I so when they brought them back home, people instantly adored them! Nowadays, they are always seen as a member of the K-9 units, often helpful during rescue operations.
Unsurprisingly, they are considered one of the smartest dogs in the world. German Shepherds are also fearless and protective of their owners, although ample training is needed. They exhibit mouthing behavior, too, and they can shed a lot due to their luscious fur.
