Border Collie
Perhaps the most popular herd dog is the Border Collie, whose name came from its place of origin. They were developed in Scotland and resided on the border of the country and “collie” is the Scottish term for “sheepdogs.” They are much-loved because of their intelligence and ability to learn quickly from their owners.
As such, it wasn’t surprising that dog lover Queen Victoria was obsessed with them in the 1860s. They are easy to work with, too, which is also why Border Collies are often used in films. They were seen in “Mad About You,” “Animal Farm,” “Babe,” and “Snow Dogs.”
