Siberian Husky
Animal advocates frown upon dog sled competitions because of how cruel they are to the creatures. However, in some places, this type of contest remains illegal and often sees Siberian Huskies as participants. The Chukchi people were credited to be the creators of this breed in Siberia.
These dogs could withstand the harsh climate of the peninsula, often helping the people carry pull sleds. The Chukchi believed that Huskies guarded heaven’s gates, filtering those who had been mean to canines on earth. Their dense coat means pet owners must be willing to provide a cool environment for them not to overheat.
