The Godfather
Another classic film, “The Godfather,” is no stranger to ad-libs. The original script wrote Richard S. Castellano’s Clemenza to say “Leave the gun” to Rocco after the murder scene. However, the actor added, “Take the cannoli” to the line, which made his dialogue memorable. He credits his wife, Ardell Sheridan, as the brains behind this improvisation.
This was about the character’s previous scene where he had been asked to bring home dessert. The 1972 movie swept significant awards at the Academy, winning Best Actor, Best Writing, and Best Picture. This spawned a series of films, much to the delight of their fans.
