They may be lower down on the list, but Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson were the first high profile celebrities to announce that they contracted COVID-19. The couple tested positive while in Australia and after suffering different symptoms.

Hanks shared his experience in a radio interview, saying how he and his wife had different virus-related symptoms. He spoke about Rita having a tougher encounter than he did, losing her sense of taste and smell and running a high fever. He also said that he has no respect or time for people who don’t follow COVID-19 safety procedures.
