Sea lions are strong swimmers, so it is no surprise to find one following and catching up on a speed boat. With powerful flippers, they can attain a maximum speed of up 20 miles per hour, according to Vallarta Adventures. And even though they cannot breathe underwater, they can hold their breath for up to 20 minutes.
