Are Mermaids Real?

How tall would this woman have to be for her to be able to… nope, not possible. This is an optical illusion, not an incredibly long human being. There are two swimmers in this picture. The one behind already dove in headfirst while the one in the front had just raised her upper body out.

It doesn’t look like this is competitive swimming, and that’s because it’s not. These swimmers are in the middle of synchronized swimming. It’s a routine involving gymnastics and dance that sometimes looks like cheerleading in the water. It’s been a part of the Summer Olympics since 1984.
