New York is another state whose thriving cost of living and taxes have driven many people to move out of the state. Ever since the phenomenon of remote working became so popular in 2020, people have realized that they can still work in “The Big Apple” while living in a different state.
Initially named New Amsterdam by Dutch colonists, this state is one of the most populous regions of the United States. In 2022, the state of New York introduced a “trans refuge” bill in an effort to improve their access to rights, which isn’t surprising, considering that it’s the birthplace of LGBTQ+ rights in America.
