With less than 1.1 million residents Rhode Island is the seventh least populous and the smallest by area among all states of America. Surrounded by metropolitan and well-to-do states, its citizens can also be assumed to be employed in neighboring states.

Most of the people who moved into this state in 2021 cited job opportunities as the top reason. In April 2022, Boston.com named Watch Hill, a neighborhood in Rhode Island, its top pick for retirement living. With more than 400 miles of coastline, it is also known as “The Ocean State.” Fun Fact: Rhode Island became the first state to proclaim independence from the British in May 1776.
