Marlon Brando – Tetiaroa, Price Undisclosed
Marlon Brando is most famous for playing Don Vito Corleone in the Godfather films. In the 1960s, while working on Mutiny On The Bounty, one of his earlier films, he discovered the French Polynesian island of Tetiaroa. He was so taken by the lifestyle of the locals; he made an offer they couldn’t refuse (it was never disclosed) to purchase the island.
He frequented it and, in 1999, teamed up with resort developer Richard Bailey to build a post-carbon, sustainable venue for holidaymakers. That resort is now known as The Brando, an eco-friendly site boasting three villas and a three-bedroom residence along with a spa, boutique, and restaurants.
