Craig McCaw – James Island, $19 Million
Tech Magnate Craig McCaw purchased James Island for $19 million in 1994. With a net worth of $1.75 billion, the cell phone industry pioneer who founded McCaw Cellular knows a thing or two about doing good business. He proved this when he sold the Island, as the third most expensive property in British Columbia, for $75 million.
It featured a 4,500-square-foot main house, six guest homes, a private airstrip, and an 18-hole golf course, designed by golf legend Jack Nicklaus. McCaw also set the record for the most expensive car ever sold when he sold a 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO for $38.1 million.
