If there’s one person on this list that should own an island but doesn’t, it’s Bill Gates. The brains behind Microsoft is constantly in the top 10 wealthiest people in the world and was rumored to have purchased Grand Bogue island for $2.25 million.
The 400-acre island allows for an array of water sports, saltwater fishing while sporting amazing views, forests, and lush palm and coconut trees. The rumored purchase was never verified. Gates, whose net worth continues to grow despite taking a back seat in his role at Microsoft, has been focusing on philanthropy since 2014.
