Leonardo DiCaprio – Blackadore Caye, $1.75 Million
Titanic actor Leonardo DiCaprio bought the Blackadore Caye island off the coast of Belize for around $1.75 million. He fell in love with it while on holiday and also saw a chance to save it. As a popular fishing spot in the area, Blackadore Caye suffers from overfishing and, as it provides wood for Belize, deforestation, too.
So Di Caprio decided to develop a luxurious, eco-friendly resort that will include a hotel and villas, an artificial reef, a nursery, and plans to replant indigenous vegetation. The resort will be solar-powered and include a research center to study global warming, something Di Caprio is very passionate about.
