Mel Gibson – Mago Island, $15 Million
Despite starring in hit films such as Mad Max and Lethal Weapon and directing an Oscar-winning production like Braveheart, Mel Gibson is having a tough time of late. His drunken behavior and random anti-Semitic slurs have seen the public turn on him and caused his divorce from long term wife of 29 years, Robyn Moore Gibson.
What’s a man to do? Well retreat to his private island, that’s what he did. Gibson purchased Mago Island from the Tokyu Corporation of Japan in 2005 for a reported $15 million. The Volcanic island, a former cotton plantation, is part of the South Pacific’s biggest privately-owned islands.
