Another band of critics was adamant that Abby’s sailing season was off, and the weather wasn’t exactly conducive to such a difficult journey. This was a better argument than the first two, but it didn’t hold weight for a few reasons.
For starters, Abby did have relatively smooth sailing until she reached the Indian Ocean known for its funky weather conditions. On the other hand, weather patterns are unreliable, and it is not unheard of for the weatherman to make wrong predictions. We do agree the weather did play a role, but in Abby’s defense, she did better than most sailors would in her shoes.
