Abby’s stop at Cape Town was the break she needed because she soon found herself at nature’s mercy in the Indian Ocean. The young lady was hit with heavy thunderstorms that had her working for twenty-four hours straight, trying to keep the boat afloat.
If that’s not enough, the autopilots failed her at some point, and Abby was forced to navigate and keep the ship afloat at the same time. The young girl couldn’t catch a break, and she had to decide between sailing and repairs, and after careful thought, she chose the former. This prompted her to cut the sail stuck on the top line.
