Trouble in Paradise
Thunderstorms had whipped Wild Eyes thoroughly, and three months after the voyage began, Abby’s boat was in dire need of maintenance. The systems were shot, and the autopilots were in dire need of fixing.
By the time Abby landed at Cape Town, South Africa, the engine was running on its last legs. Any more delay would have led to the young girl having to resort to traditional propelling methods, which would have been an enormous blow to her prospects. To make matters worse, a three-month voyage is not a walk in the park, and fatigue had probably set in.
