Sailing Do’s and Don’ts
Abby’s case wasn’t any different, and the committee predetermined the route and direction of travel. This made it possible to ensure the distance remained consistent any time someone attempted to pull this voyage off.
Abby had to start her voyage in Marina del Rey and make it back. In between, she had to pass through Cape Horn, Cape Leeuwin, and the Cape of Good Hope before starting her return trip. The journey was supposed to be a solo feat with no assistance and no one else on board. Furthermore, it had to be done in ten legs, further upping the anté.
