St. Bernard

This gentle giant called Saint Bernard had an important job back in the day, helping monks in the Swiss Alps. The breed was adept in carrying food and was excellent in rescuing buried bodies, thanks to its great sense of smell. They have an easy-going temperament, which makes them perfect for a household with kids.

Adult Saint Bernards can weigh up to 180 pounds and they grow up so fast. Add to that, it could take them three years to stop growing! Unfortunately, because of their jaw and head shape, they drool a lot, especially when they’re panting, overheated, hungry, or overexcited.
