Dogo Argentino
The Dogo Argentino belongs to the Working Group classification but AKC insists they also make for a perfect pet—at least for those willing to provide training. Unfortunately, the 1991 Dangerous Dogs Act lists this breed as one of the canines that shouldn’t be owned. Originally from Cordoba, Argentina, a certain Antonio Nores Martinez cross-bred big purebreds to create a powerful and tenacious creature.
It is a recently recognized breed as the AKC only made it official in 2020, making it the 195th breed to join the list. Dogo Argentino is also a relatively newcomer in America, only arriving in the ’70s.
