Speaking of toy dogs, Pugs are also a tiny package with a big attitude. They can grow up to 12 inches even though they have a stocky body. Its history is a bit murky as there are many beliefs surrounding the breed. Some think that the dog goes back to the Shang Dynasty.

According to Mental Floss, Pugs were seen as royalties because they were so pampered by emperors. They are brachycephalic, so it is expected that their facial structure causes some breathing issues that owners must be ready to address. Don’t let this discourage you though because they are great companion dogs!
