The Attractive Side of Air Travel
This skewed ad about air hostesses dates back to the ’50s and ’60s. That’s when flight attendants were thought to be at every man’s beck and call. Instead of focusing on elements like cost, services, and amenities; airlines promoted their superiority based on the attractiveness of their female staff members.
Some airline ads essentially came off as dating profiles with photos accompanied by blurbs about each in-flight female staff member, The text was equally degrading and even listed their hobbies. Worse still, such ads included a call-to-action telling male flyers to look out for the particular air hostess on their next flight.
